Dr.Karen Vieira, Ph.D.

Dr. Karen Vieira is a research scientist with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She also holds a MS in Management and has more than 10 years of hands-on experience at Kraft Foods and in academia doing medical, scientific and nutritional research. Her undergraduate and graduate projects were in clinical and laboratory sickle cell research. She has done cellular and molecular biology research on transcriptional regulation of the human and mouse beta-globin locus, aimed towards gene therapy for sickle cell disease. While working at Kraft Foods, she started a comprehensive cell culture research project, a first of its kind there, discovering and prioritizing novel and emerging food ingredients for health and wellness using cell culture studies. She was discovering and researching new and emerging health and wellness ingredients. She is the owner of Med Writes, a team of experienced PhD and MS-level medical writers, specializing in writing and consulting in biotech industries.
